Implementation of the ecosystem approach to fisheries for the demersal fisheries of the Mediterranean coast of Egypt: baseline report

Abstract

Fishery management in Egypt is challenged by the complex nature of the associated social–ecological systems. This publication presents the baseline report on the ecosystem approach to fisheries (EAF) pilot case study on a demersal fishery of the Mediterranean coast of Egypt. It documents all relevant information about the fishery; the species and geographical areas covered in the case study; the socioeconomic profile of the fishery; and the institutional arrangements for its management.
