On the consideration of the AU Post-Conflict Reconstruction and Development (PCRD) Policy, Council adopted the revised AU PCRD Policy and decided to submit it to the 37th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of the Union scheduled to take place on 17-18 February 2024 for consideration. Continent-wide dissemination of the revised AU PCRD Policy to all AU Member States, Regional Economic Communities and Regional Mechanisms (RECs/RMs), Civil Society Organizations, and the private sector, as well as to partners and the broader international community for them to partner in peacebuilding efforts on the Continent was emphasized during the meeting. On the second commemoration of the Africa Day for Peace and Reconciliation, the Council underscored the importance of justice in the reconciliation process as a fundamental pillar of peaceful and just societies, creating spaces for meaningful intercultural dialogue was also emphasised and further underlined the need to strengthen the pillars of the African Peace and Security Architecture (APSA) and the African Governance Architecture (AGA) to adequately address structural and cyclical instability. Lastly, the Council underscored the imperative of further enhancing cooperation and complementarity of efforts between the AU Champion, AU High Representatives and Envoys, RECs/RMS, and other actors on the Continent.
