The Council adopted the Common African Position on the Fourth United Nations Conference to Review the Progress Made in the Implementation of the Programme of Action to Prevent, Combat and Eradicate the Illicit Trade in Small Arms and Light Weapons in All Its Aspects and directed the AU Commission to circulate the Common African Position to Member States, Regional Economic Communities and Regional Mechanisms (RECs/RMs) and partners; further directs the AU Commission to convene regular meetings of Member States to share best practices and experiences in the fight against illicit small arms and light weapons, including their illicit trade, trafficking and circulation. Lastly, requested the AU Commission to develop and provide long-term technical assistance and capacity-building to Member States, upon request.
