The Second Joint Retreat agenda focused on: Presentation of the APRM Peer Reviewed Reports focusing on early warning for conflict prevention to enhance strategies and efforts aimed at addressing the root causes of conflicts on the continent – the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Republic of Namibia and Republic of South Africa; Sharing of experiences and best practices from the review processes by Member States that have been peer-reviewed – Namibia, Nigeria, and South Africa; Presentation on the implementation of the conclusions of the First PSC-APRM Joint Retreat; Presentation and signing of the Communique of the Joint Retreat between the AU Panel of the Wise and the APRM Panel of Eminent Persons on preventive diplomacy efforts; Presentation of efforts undertaken to strengthen cooperation between the PSC, APRM, RECs/RMs and the AUC in the areas of democracy, elections, good governance and the rule of law; Presentation of the status of transitions in Africa: recent lessons learned and way forward for supporting inclusive transitions; and Presentation of the Development of the 2023 Report on Governance in Africa on unconstitutional changes of government and of the Roadmap for validation.
