The Republic of Namibia concluded its chairship of the Peace and Security Council (PSC) of the African Union (AU) for November 2022. The following activities took place during the month: (I) Updated briefing on the situation in Sudan; (ii) COP 27 Preparations: presentation of key messages on the nexus between peace and security and climate change; (iii) Open Session on Youth, Peace and Security in Africa; (iv) Situation in Mozambique and Operations of SAMIM; (v) Engagement between the PSC and the AU Commission on International Law (AUCIL); (vi) Briefing on the Agreement for Lasting Peace Through Permanent Cessation of Hostilities between the Government of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia and the Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF); (vii) Consideration of the request submitted by the Federal Government of Somalia to extend phase 1 of the ATMIS CONOPS and delaying the drawdown of 2000 troops from Dec. 2022 to June 2023; (viii) Consideration of the report of the Chairperson of the Commission on the situation in Chad; (ix) Briefing on the Post-Conflict Reconstruction and Development (PCRD) in Africa; (x) Update briefing on the situation in South Sudan.
