This Report is submitted to the Assembly of the AU pursuant to Article 7(q) of the Protocol relating to the Establishment of the Peace and Security Council of the AU. It covers the activities carried out by the PSC during the period under review and provides an overview of the state of peace and security in the continent with respect to conflict and crisis situations, as well as the status of the implementation of the African Peace and Security Architecture (APSA). Conclusions of the Retreat of the PSC on the Implementation of the Conclusions of Successive PSC Retreats and the Related Adoptive Decisions from 2007 to 2016, held from 3 to 5 May 2017, in Kigali, Rwanda, are attached to this report for the Assembly’s endorsement.
Also attached; is the Inaugural report of the peace and security council of the African Union, which discussed the implementation of the African Union master roadmap of practical steps to silence the guns in Africa by the year 2020. The Report provides an overview of the steps taken and the progress made, as well as an analysis of constraining factors and the challenges at hand, in the implementation of the AU Master Roadmap of Practical Steps to Silence the Guns in Africa by the year 2020 (AUMR).
