Climate-linked mobility: a key to development

Development actors and funders are beginning to acknowledge that climate-linked mobility must be included in development programmes. However, interventions and funding remain inadequate. In Africa, mobilising adaptation financing and implementing strategies face multiple barriers. This policy brief analyses the obstacles to maximising the continent’s climate-mobility opportunities. It emphasises the critical role of mobility in climate adaptation and recommends entry points and approaches for sustainable development.
About the authors
Aimée-Noël Mbiyozo is a Senior Research Consultant at the Institute for Security Studies. She is a migration expert whose research covers a broad range of intersecting issues, including climate change, gender, refugee rights, violent extremism and citizenship.
Margaret Monyani is a Senior Researcher on migration at the Institute for Security Studies. Her areas of interest include migration governance, gender and development.
