This review highlights the effects of pesticide residues on the human gut microbiome and the potential implications for human health, including non-communicable diseases. It analyses the evidence linking pesticide residues with the gut microbiome and human health overall. It also evaluates the potential use of the microbiome data reported in these studies for risk assessment of pesticide residues.
