This lessons note is part of a knowledge series prepared by Independent Development Evaluation (IDEV) at the African Development Bank Group (AfDB or ‘the Bank’) to share lessons from evaluations of agricultural initiatives by the AfDB, other Multilateral Development Banks, and development partners. The note shares key lessons with the Management and the Board of Directors of the AfDB, as well as Governments of Regional Member Countries (RMCs) of the AfDB, development partners, civil society and private sector representatives who will be participating in the Dakar II Summit on Food Sovereignty and Resilience to be held from 25-27 January 2023 in Dakar, Senegal. The lessons highlight what has worked well and less well in agricultural development and transformation initiatives, to inform the Food and Agriculture Delivery Compacts expected to be developed by participating African countries during the summit, with the support of other stakeholders.
