Will Rwanda be the Next Burundi? : Central Africa - Regional Analysis

Abstract

In Rwanda as in Burundi, the constitution has been changed to allow for extended terms in office for the incumbent president. More than the status of one man is at stake, because the real intent is to establish a government perpetually ruled by a single power, a condition that in Burundi raises fears of a Rwanda-style genocide.
