Abstract

The article provides biomedical research materials from Tanganyika, German East Africa during the colonial period. The author comments on the large scale collection of blood and other tissue samples for research, necromancy in medicine, and cannibalism. Other topics include the political economy of medicine and surgeon Maximillian Zupitza.
