This article looks at tensions and conflict between the Turkana and Pokot pastoral communities in rural Kenya. In particular, it examines 1) the history of cattle rustling and livestock raiding between pastoral communities in the country; 2) the contemporary factors that have increased tensions between Kenya's pastoral communities; 3) the circular nature of the conflict between these communities; and 4) how to tackle the problems that bring about conflict between these communities.
