Abstract

The world today has become increasingly integrated and multi-polar. In particular, the dynamism of emerging economies and many developing countries in recent years has sparked a shift in economic power from west to east and north to south. The 'rise of the South' has become a stimulus for expanding South-South economic links, most notably in trade, but also in foreign direct investment (FDI), aid and remittances. The emergence of a number of large developing countries as major players on the international stage has brought the question of South-South cooperation to centre-stage once again. Once such example is increasing India-Africa trade. In the past few years, the economic ties between India and Africa have followed an upward trend due to the economic and technological boom in India.
