A comprehensive set of guidelines prepared by the Asia-Pacific Forestry Commission (APFC) to help countries in the region implement APFC’s landmark forest harvesting code. The Code of Practice for Forest Harvesting adopted by the APFC in 1998 will assist countries in making the best economic use of their forests while minimising the negative environmental and social impacts of harvesting. This publication provides crucial support to regional countries in identifying and training government polic y makers, planners, logging industry leaders and frontline forestry and forest industry staff for effective implementation of the code. It replaces a plethora of earlier national and regional training efforts that were piecemeal in approach and neglected key actors in forest harvesting.
