The final formal report of the Fourth Session of the Western Central Atlantic Fishery Commission (WECAFC) held in Managua,Nicaragua from 9 to 13 May 1963 is presented. Major topics discussed were (1) resource assessment and management, (2) fishery statistics and regional implementation of statistical systems, (3) the establishment of regional projects and opportunities for cooperative action in the Lesser Antilles, (4) coastal aquaculture development and progress in the Caribbean area, (5) o pportunities and mechanisms for intraregional cooperation and mutual assistance, and (6) preparations for the FAO World Fisheries Conference. A list of the main decisions and recommendations arising from the discussions on the above topics, which require attention/action by governments and/or FAO is given in Annex E.
