The Thirty-third Session of the Committee on Fisheries (COFI) was held in Rome, Italy, from 9 to 13 July 2018. This is a report of the Session reflecting the discussions which took place and containing all recommendations and decisions taken by the Committee. Among the activities that took place during the meeting were welcoming the improvement in the 2018 questionnaire on the implementation of the FAO Code of Conduct for Responsible Fisheries, noting the progress of Members on the implementation of the Code and related instruments, but also identifying gaps and constraints and underscored the important role of FAO in assisting Members. The Committee also called upon FAO to consult with Members on matters of potential confidentiality in the use of the country information, welcomed the increasing number of Parties to the FAO Agreement on Port State Measures to Prevent, Deter and Eliminate IUU Fishing (PSMA), and encouraged further adherence to the Agreement.
